We had a great day yesterday with families from Offaly, Galway, Wexford, and Dublin at our Planning for Life After School workshop in Mullingar. We covered a range of topics, but the key message is that we do not have to put programmes at the centre of people’s lives.
We can support our son or daughter to live a ordinary life in community based on the typical pathway – going to college, getting a job, being a member of local clubs and groups.
Key takeaways:
The importance of defining, holding and acting on a vision of a positive community future.
The importance of valued social roles.
The importance of building a network.
How inclusion protects and enriches lives.
The value of connecting to an organisation that can assist you on this journey.
