Calling all families – would you like to come to Leap’s annual Family Leadership Retreat on the 23rd – 25th September 2022?
It is ten years since we started coming to The Cavan Centre and to celebrate this milestone, we would like to invite:
1) Families who have come on these weekends before to return for the chance to reconnect and rebuild community after the enforced isolation of the last two years.
2) Families for whom this is the first time to one of these events, who could benefit from some time together to think about the future.
Leap is offering face-to-face family leadership weekends for the whole family to come together in an inclusive, fun environment to begin to develop and share a vision of a good life for their son or daughter, brother or sister with a disability and for themselves.
These weekends are about friendship, fun, making connections and feeling ambitious for the future! The aim of the weekend is to have fun with all the members of the family and try out some new activities, think about some new ideas and experiences.
Parents and adult siblings take part in workshops that invite them to think about the future and to think about what good support looks like for their family member; while other children and teenagers are busy taking part in a range of accessible activities.
As well as access to the facility each family will have the support of a ‘family pal’ for the weekend matched to the family based on your child’s interests, hobbies, age and life experience.
The weekend is also supported by activity leaders with experience of working with people with a disability so everyone can get the most out of the activities the Cavan Centre has to offer.

The weekend costs €80 per person (all inclusive) so, for example, for a family of four the weekend costs €320.
